Frequently asked questions
How many questions are in the UK theory test?
The multiple-choice part has 50 questions, and you need 43 correct to pass. There is also a separate hazard perception test. PassMyTheory gives you 420 practice questions across all 14 official topics plus full 50-question mock tests.
What is the theory test pass mark?
You need 43 out of 50 on the multiple-choice section, and 44 out of 75 on the hazard perception section. Our mock tests use the real 43/50 pass mark so practice feels like the real thing.
Is PassMyTheory really free?
Yes. All 420 practice questions, flashcards and progress tracking are free with no ads and no sign-up. Premium (a one-off £4.99 or £2.99 a month) unlocks full timed mock tests and the hazard perception trainer.
Do I need to download anything?
No. PassMyTheory runs in your web browser. On a phone you can tap "Add to Home Screen" and it behaves like a normal app, including working offline, with no App Store download.
Are these the official DVSA questions?
Our questions are original, written to teach the same material from the public Highway Code. They are not copied from the official DVSA question bank, but they cover every topic the real test draws from.
What is the hazard perception test?
It is the second part of the theory test, where you watch video clips and click when you spot a developing hazard. We explain it fully in our hazard perception guide.
How long should I revise for?
Most people revise for two to four weeks. Little and often works best: a few topics a day plus a mock test once you feel ready. Our progress tracker shows you exactly which topics still need work.
